Maybe you don’t check your mailbox daily, but how awesome is it to see a piece of mail that is not a bill! Whether it’s a postcard from your bestie who just went to Paris, or a handwritten thank you note for a birthday present you gave to your cousin, getting a tangible form of communication from a person has a lasting impact in this age of digital distraction. Imagine how you would feel if you received a postcard from your favorite brand, such as a hotel you just stayed at? If you want to stand out and build customer loyalty, create a custom, branded card.
Options for Sending Gratitude by Mail
According to Indigo, “Postcards create lasting impressions, evoke emotion, and serve as beautiful keepsakes.” Unlike a traditional thank you card, post cards are made from heavier stock paper with a glossy finish. They are also “easy to produce, relatively inexpensive to mail, and offer a high return on investment.” If the postcard image is beautiful, they become souvenirs that you can hold on to and display on a bulletin board or fridge.
Overall, a physical thank you note solves the digital overwhelm problem. How easy is it to skip over a generic text or automatic email thanking you for your stay. Wouldn’t it feel more sincere to actually get a handwritten card that says, “Thanks for coming! I hope you enjoyed your stay with your two children and partner. Can’t wait to see you again soon!” Authenticity and customization are key to nailing down the exact messaging.
Card or Note Design
The option to send a thank you card vs. postcards depends on a few things. Would it be more impactful to highlight your work or your property with an image? Some ideas of featured images include a picture of the hotel lobby or the hotel pool and patio, or even a panoramic view of the property’s facade. Just make sure that the images that you choose to use aren’t dated and don’t reflect a different version of the place. If you are overdue for a renovation, aim to use more flattering pictures of the exterior. In some cases, a brand’s logo may be most memorable and professional to your clientele. Of course, the added benefit of a thank you note design is that you have much more paper real estate to write something more personal and descriptive.
Thanks For Reading
Since the beginning AJC Design has been sending thank you notes to thank a vendor or a client who they haven’t heard from in a while. This trend is not going away anytime soon. Expressing gratitude and appreciation is part of who I am and what my brand is. My mom, who is a huge fan of Emily Post, was adamant that when I was given a gift, I had to immediately send a thank you note. If you want to stand out and make your customers feel good, send a thank you card today!
